Neuroscientific Pain Interventions

NOMINATED TOPIC | February 20, 2024

1. What is the decision or change (e.g., clinical topic, practice guideline, system design, delivery of care) you are facing or struggling with where a summary of the evidence would be helpful?

There is an explosion of research being done on pain neuroscience education, nociplastic pain and therapeutic interventions for it. It potentially will revolutionize chronic pain care for 100 million chronic pain patients in the USA. It would be very helpful to have a new evidence review to use to evaluate current research and the potential interventions with their practical evidence in comparison for different patient types, what we don't know and what is being researched.

2. Why are you struggling with this issue?

There are many articles out there on these topics, but some are hard to find or have barriers to access for clinicians in the field. There is also a dirth of information on practical application of the various suggested interventions and which works better for which patient phenotype.

3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?

A systemic review or guideline published readily available to clinicians.

4. When do you need the evidence report?

Sat, 11/30/2024

5. What will you do with the evidence report?

Apply directly to patient care for my chronic pain patients as well as publish articles about it in professional media to bring awareness to topic and available evidence for clinical application.
