Risk Factors for Preterm Birth
Women known to be at risk for preterm birth include those with prior preterm birth, symptoms of preterm labor, multiple gestations, and a short cervix. Other factors that elevate the risk include abdominal surgery, previous or threatened spontaneous abortion, uterine anomalies, and an incompetent cervix.
