Holly Wethington, Ph.D.

Holly Wethington, PhD

Holly Wethington is a Health Scientist Administrator who serves as a Project Officer for evidence reviews conducted under the Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) master contract. In this capacity, she works with EPCs to produce systematic reviews and with partners who use AHRQ products to develop practice guidelines and inform research agendas and coverage decisions.

Prior to joining AHRQ, Dr. Wethington was a Coordinating Scientist for the Community Guide Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2013 to 2023. In this role she led systematic reviews in the areas of obesity, nutrition, and mental health for the Community Preventive Services Task Force. Before that, she worked for the CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity conducting research and evaluation of behaviors associated with obesity. She holds a doctorate in sociology with a concentration in health behavior from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a bachelor of science degree in nutrition from the University of Kentucky.
