- Briefly describe a specific question, or set of related questions, about a health care test or treatment that this program should consider.

After having 2 stents put in my thigh why did my leg and foot swell up 2x's the normal size? Why (after 19 months is my foot still numb and painful? By the way, I had 2 balloons put in after 5 months and the swelling subsided. At the onset, I was told I have PAD, I have no diabetes.
- Describe why this topic is important.
-
My ability to walk has been extremely impacted, therefore I use a walker and/or cane due to the inability to feel with my foot. How does a stent in the thigh affect the foot, numbness and extreme pain? 3 of my toes are now curling. What the heck is going on? I was hospitalized for 1 week and in therapy center for 3 weeks. I then had outpatient surgery for 6 months just learning to walk. I think people should be told of the potential hazard of a stent.
- How will an answer to your research question be used or help inform decisions for you or your group?
-
Patients can make an informed decision when told they need stents. Nobody in the nursing home or therapy center had ever seen such a condition due to stents. A patient should know there is someone out there that has had the same problem.
