NOMINATED TOPIC | October 7, 2014
Briefly describe a specific question, or set of related questions, about a health care test or treatment that this program should consider.

For adult patients in an acute care setting does providing information about the transmission and virulence of Ebola virus vs. influenza virus change the rates of influenza vaccinations given before the patient leaves the hospital

Describe why this topic is important.

Due to the recent diagnosis of Ebola in the United States many people are concerned about getting the disease. However these same people are often unconcerned about the yearly outbreak of influenza virus and elect not to have an influenza vaccine leaving them vulnerable to a potentially deadly disease.

How will an answer to your research question be used or help inform decisions for you or your group?

An answer to this question may guide the way staff in the acute care setting present information about influenza vaccination to patients and their families.
