NOMINATED TOPIC | March 16, 2015
Briefly describe a specific question, or set of related questions, about a health care test or treatment that this program should consider.

Immediate failure PTAstent procedure with total occlusion above and below the knee that led to compartment syndrome and a 4 compartment fasciotomy

Describe why this topic is important.

We have never gotten any kind of clinical answer as to why this happened to my wife at 46 years old. We have come to the conclusion that surgical inexperience surgical error or surgical misdiagnosis was responsible. We need some kind of answer other than stuff happens that cant be explained.

How will an answer to your research question be used or help inform decisions for you or your group?

The outcome of this since Sept of 2012 has been a complete change of life for my wife. We need to fill the blanks the performing cardiologist walked out of surgery and said it didnt work thats it and walked away. 36 hours later my wife was undergoing the horrendous fasciotomy to save her leg and life. We have had no contact with the cardiologist in question for 2 years. How does what was suppose to be a routine PTA turn into such a nightmare. My wife is disabled from the PTA
