The impact of medical trauma with sickle cell patients, children and adults, due to their ongoing distresses. Children 4-17 years old, and adults 18-45 years old. What are the benefits of providing mental health therapy as part of their medical treatment to decrease their distresses (fear, depression, nightmares, etc)?

This topic is important due to the impact of sickle cell condition on the person's daily well being. It affects the person's daily coping skills which is triggered by their on-going medical condition. Sickle cell condition brings anxiety, depression, and distresses associated with medical trauma.
- How will an answer to your research question be used or help inform decisions for you or your group?
An answer to my research question will help provide awareness, education, and affordable mental health services for sick cell patients and their families. These mental health services will be part of their medical services in order to treat the whole person.
