Anjali Jain, M.D.

Anjali Jain, M.D.

Anjali Jain is a pediatrician and health services researcher who serves as a Project Officer for evidence reviews conducted under the Evidence-based Practice Center master contract. In this capacity, she works with contractors to produce systematic reviews and with partners who use AHRQ products to develop practice guidelines and inform research agendas and coverage decisions.

Dr. Jain attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering and her M.D. She completed her residency at the University of Chicago (where she also served as chief resident), followed by a fellowship in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Yale University. She has been recognized for the impact of her scientific publications and her writing. Prior to joining AHRQ, Dr. Jain worked in both the healthcare industry and academia: she served as the chief medical officer at Social and Scientific Systems, vice president with the Lewin Group, and assistant professor at Children’s National Hospital and George Washington University and at the University of Chicago. She also worked as a physician editor for the BMJ publishing group. In addition to her work on evidence synthesis and the translation of evidence into practice, including guideline development, Dr. Jain’s published research includes studies on autism, obesity, sickle cell disease, opioids, and other medication use, injuries, and comparative effectiveness research, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods and with a public health focus on underserved populations.
