Describe why this topic is important.

By one estimate there are 21 million Americans with limited English proficiency. Little is known about the effect of medical interpretation, and how this is provided, on health care quality. The AAFP Commission on the Health of the Public and Science rated this topic as one of the top two for nomination.

How will an answer to your research question be used or help inform decisions for you or your group?

The answer to this question will serve to guide the AAFP in making recomendations to family physicians about what type of translation services to provide for theier patients.
