Continuous Glucose Monitoring
Topic Suggestion
1. What is the decision or change you are facing or struggling with where a summary of the evidence would be helpful?
What is the effectiveness of continuous glucose monitoring for individuals/workers with diabetes for the following outcomes: general health indicators (e.g., role physical, mental, emotional, QOL, life satisfaction), experience with the intervention, confidence (e.g., does it enhance the individual's confidence in managing their diabetes), cost of care/intervention/management of the disease, and indicators of productivity/workability (e.g., self-reported absenteeism, presenteeism, workability, etc.)
2. Why are you struggling with this issue?
There is much innovation in this area and most of the literature seems to address this in the context of the clinical medical setting. However, managing diabetes affects the workday as well. Potentially, lots of support could be leveraged through the workplace setting.
3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?
Increased use of CGM and related technology with simultaneous increase in worker performance, experience, and sense of well-being/confidence.
4. When do you need the evidence report?
Mon, 12/31/2018
5. What will you do with the evidence report?
Support proposals to do research in the context of the workplace; propose studies that connect workers with the needed technology and their care teams suing remote monitoring; and supporting the business case for employer investment in CGM if effectiveness can be established.
