Geriatric Consultations

Topic Suggestion

1. What is the decision or change you are facing or struggling with where a summary of the evidence would be helpful?

We are interested in what types of patients, conditions are warranted for a geriatrics consult (both inpatient and outpatient).  Where does the value lie?  We know it's likely not an age cut off, and is probably more that a combination of risk factors but there is no evidence for this.

2. Why are you struggling with this issue?

Given the shortage of Geriatrics providers, we want to concentrate our people for the right patients.  We need evidence to guide this.

3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?

4. When do you need the evidence report?

5. What will you do with the evidence report?

We can structure our health system (and other health care delivery systems) to put our resources in the right place—the right patients get the right care at the right time.
