Harms of Marijuana Concentrates

NOMINATED TOPIC | February 20, 2024

1. What is the decision or change (e.g. clinical topic, practice guideline, system design, delivery of care) you are facing or struggling with where a summary of the evidence would be helpful?

A summary of evidence regarding the harms of concentrates of marijuana (DAD, WAX, Shatter, etc.) will be helpful in educating my patients who are bombarded by marijuana ads and convinced that such concentrates are cures for anything.

2. Why are you struggling with this issue?

There is politicization and disagreement in regulation and state-federal gov dissonance that muddies the evidence. Add freedom of speech (i.e., freedom to be untruthful) and we have major issues in guiding patients especially adolescents and young adults.

3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?

I'd like to see more research and clarification of the evidence using federal funding vs funding from questionable and biased sources.

4. When do you need the evidence report?

Wed, 01/01/2025

5. What will you do with the evidence report?

Use it in my clinical practice.
