Hormonal Birth Control and UTIs

Topic Suggestion

1. What is the decision or change you are facing or struggling with where a summary of the evidence would be helpful?

I'm interested in seeing more studies of the link between hormonal birth control and chronic urinary tract infections.

2. Why are you struggling with this issue?

Personally, I am unable to take hormonal birth control without chronic urinary tract infections. I've spoken with several women who have the same experience and the lack of proper studies has left doctors and the public uniformed of the possible outcome. There could be plenty of women who suffer with UTIs that could possibly end, but they don't know why.

3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?

Obviously the medication itself can't be changed. I just want more people to be aware of this problem. I'll know when Planned Parenthood lists Chronic UTIs as a possible, if only rare, symptom for birth control.
