Polysomnography for Pediatric Patients
Topic Suggestion
1. What is the decision or change you are facing or struggling with where a summary of the evidence would be helpful?
Is getting Polysomnography necessary before subjecting a pediatric patient for the surgical treatment of Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
2. Why are you struggling with this issue?
AASM-Recommends PSG
AAP-Recommends PSF
American Association of otolaryngology-Does not 'always' require PSG before subjecting a patient for Tonsillectomy. I do think that they have significant conflict in their decision regarding 'PSG' for high risk patients only
3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?
Federal agencies- should take the lead -in disseminating evidence based medical care for the public
4. When do you need the evidence report?
Thursday, 07/30/2020
5. What will you do with the evidence report?
I can use it in my daily activities in recommendations regarding approval process. This is also useful for clinicians.
