The efficacy of speech therapy after stroke.

NOMINATED TOPIC | September 21, 2016
Briefly describe a specific question, or set of related questions, about a health care test or treatment that this program should consider.

The efficacy of speech therapy after stroke.

Describe why this topic is important.

Speech therapy consultation has almost become a routine after strokes, yet to my reading there is little evidence to support its use.

How will an answer to your research question be used or help inform decisions for you or your group?

If it were not efficacious (or cost effective), then Medicare money would be saved and patients would be saved from unnecessary consultations.
