1. Your Nomination - Please briefly describe in your own words the question about a health care test or treatment that interests or concerns you:

There is a growing concern that many pregnant women are being induced for convenience (the patient's or the physician's). We know this is costly and dangerous to the infant. It would be interesting to take a look and see how often this happens and what the outcomes are.

2. Why do you think your question is important? (you may select more than one category if appropriate)
 My question relates to a very common disease or problem
 People with this disease or problem have considerable health or financial hardships
 There is uncertainty about how well the test, treatment, or intervention works

Early induction of labor which could result medical issues such as respiratory problems.

Pregnant women regardless of socioeconomic status Infants

However, it would be interesting to look across systems of care to see if there are significant differences (Medicaid, Private insurance, uninsured)
7. Desired Health Improvements: If you question focuses on:
Identification of a particular disease or condition, what improvements in identification or diagnosis would you like to see?
I think by looking at the prevelance, we identify areas for interventions such as provider education, and provider monitoring.

Treatment of a particular disease or condition, what improvements in patient symptoms or problems would you like to see? I would like to see wide spread provider education to deter the practice of early induction for convenience.

What is the prevelance for early induction where no medical justification can be found?

Any OB/GYN association and neonatal associations Major medical institutions may be interested in participating in such a study.
