2. Why are you struggling with this issue?

There is a staggering increase in incidence of thyroid cancers and an over diagnosis of this disease; this applies to metastatic disease where systemic TKIs are currently approved; medical oncologists are in charge of prescribing these agents, yet there is a clear paucity of guidelines from oncologic societies.

3. What do you want to see changed? How will you know that your issue is improving or has been addressed?

With the recent change in the therapeutic landscape of metastatic radio-iodine refractory thyroid cancers and the approval of multiple tyrosine kinase inhibitors in the first line, second l ine as well as molecularly targeted agents, the therapeutic landscape for this disease have been transformed in a relatively short period of time to a being fairly complex. This fact coupled with the lack of guidelines to medical oncologists as far as the utilization of TKIs and the appropriate indications and sequence of use, makes the establishment of such guidelines a very high priority. It will be an extremely valuable reference for general medical oncologists as well as HN medical oncologists who treat this disease.
